One of the best things about working at a university is the sheer amount of creativity buzzing about at any given time, and the willingness to include all who might want to take part. Enter our student-driven design center, commonvision, where the graphic designers opened up their #36daysoftype project to our community, challenging any who wished to contribute their own takes on the alphabet and numbers 0 through 9.
Most of the entries would be illustrations or animations, so I knew right away I wanted to contribute a book shape to the collection. And what better mirror-like-and-therefore-perfect-book-shaped shape is 8, the best number of all? Here are some shots from my process, and the final grid collection, as curated by the good folks at commonvision. Enjoy!
