tiny painted words…

There’s something extra exciting about seeing your words in book form. For me, that just as often means painting or embroidering those words as setting them in a traditional typeface.

Right now, I’m working on painting the words of my poem, “Anna Bronski,” onto the skirts of a doll-based book. I’m excited about it because 1) I got to make a cool potato-themed title cap “J” (to match the potatoes elsewhere),  2) I’m using the tiniest paint brush I’ve ever seen, and 3) It’s really fun to make the lower-case “g” in paint.

Come to think of it, the letter “g” is fun in embroidery, too…

In any case, this part is always wonderfully satisfying…having built the book form, all that remains is the words…
